Most churches are working hard… but not always aligned.

Recently, I had the honor of serving alongside the Black Cornerstone Collaborative at Miracle Temple of Deliverance in Louisville, Kentucky. Under the leadership of Pastor Stan May and Missionary Charmaine Ward, we gathered to support and equip rural church leaders with tools to strengthen their ministries.

With Bishop John W. Fleming in attendance and the hospitality of Bishop Gabriel Hatcher, this was more than a training session. It was a moment of clarity.

Why Vision and Mission Matter

Many ministries are active, but activity alone does not guarantee impact.

Without a clear vision, leaders can feel overwhelmed.
Without a defined mission, members may serve faithfully but lack direction.

As it says in Habakkuk 2:2:

“Write the vision and make it plain, that those who read it may run with it.”

Vision gives us direction.
Mission gives us movement.
Alignment builds stronger ministries.

What We Focused On

During this session, we explored:

• The difference between vision and mission
• Why clarity creates momentum in ministry
• How to align daily work with a greater purpose
• How digital tools can support ministry leadership

We walked through real examples, practical exercises, and guided conversations to help leaders begin shaping their own vision and mission statements.

Moving Forward With Purpose

This work does not stop in the room.

Leaders must continue to:

• Clarify the future they are called to build
• Define the work required to get there
• Communicate it clearly to their members

When people understand the vision, they can run with it.

Build Your Vision and Mission

Final Thought

Vision shows us where God is calling us.

Mission shows us how we move toward that calling.

And when both are clear, ministries don’t just operate…

They grow. They impact. They move.
